President Trump Calls Relatives of Shot Military Soldiers to the Presidential Residence
Former President Donald Trump revealed on the weekend that he has extended an invitation the relatives of a Guard member fatally shot last week to attend the White House.
He mentioned that he spoke to her parents and they were “deeply grieving”.
Background on the Devastating Event
Soldier Beckstrom, 20, was killed in a shooting on last Wednesday in Washington DC.
Her fellow service member, Andrew Wolfe, twenty-four years old, remains hospitalized in serious condition.
Memorials across West Virginia have been held in their memory.
Presidential Offer
The president stated he’s talked about a meeting at the presidential residence for the families of both soldiers of the West Virginia National Guard.
“I told them: ‘When you’re able, because that’s a hard experience, visit the White House. We’re going to honor Sarah,” Trump addressed reporters. “And similarly with Andrew, recover or not.”
Community Reaction
Mourners assembled over the past few days at a local school in West Virginia to honor Sarah.
Both she and Wolfe had been fulfilling duties with the military unit as part of Trump’s government program to assist law enforcement in DC.
Paying Tribute to Sarah Beckstrom
“Sarah was the type of pupil that teachers hoped for. She carried herself with inner fortitude, a bright grin and a upbeat demeanor that encouraged those around her,” Hankins, the head of her former high school, told the Associated Press. “She was sweet, compassionate and always eager to support those in need.”
Service plans for Beckstrom are in the process of planning.
Legal Measures and Government Revisions
Law enforcement have accused a 29-year-old suspect with a charge of first-degree murder and charges of assault with intent to kill while armed.
The tragedy led the government to suspend asylum applications and halt providing visas to possessors of passports from Afghanistan.
Status of Wolfe
Wolfe, a resident of the city, enlisted in February 2019 and is a 2019 graduate of Musselman high school, as reported by the news agency.
He is still undergoing care and is “battling to survive”, the state’s leader Morrisey stated on a news program.
Attorney general the attorney general stated on Fox News Sunday that she aimed to speak to the family.
Memory of the Fallen Soldier
Sarah, from her hometown, graduated from Webster County High in 2023 and began her service not long after, serving as a military police officer with distinction, according to the West Virginia National Guard.
“She had a lot of compassion and she absolutely had courage,” Morrisey informed the audience at the service. “Though her life lasted far too short, she has created a legacy that’s going to endure.”
