The Creators of Baldur's Gate 3 Explains Its Implementation of AI Tools for Upcoming Divinity Game
The studio behind hit role-playing games like Baldur's Gate 3 and Divinity: Original Sin just teased its upcoming project, creating immense hype within the industry. However, recent comments from the studio's co-founder have brought nuance to the narrative, focusing on the developer's stance toward AI tools.
Augmenting Workflows, Not Cutting Jobs
In a latest clarification, the studio's founder outlined that the company is utilizing AI technology for certain ancillary functions. These encompass fleshing out presentation materials, generating early-stage visual ideas, and creating temporary dialogue.
Importantly, Vincke made clear that the final content in the game will be crafted solely by real artists. "We are creating all the content in-house," he stated.

"We use these tools to research ideas, just like we use search engines and art books," he stated. "In the conceptual brainstorming phase we use it as a simple sketch for composition which we then substitute with hand-crafted artwork."
He added, "Our studio recruits creatives for their inherent skill, not for their willingness to execute what a AI generates."

Vincke had earlier broken down the company's focused method to AI and ML, grouping its use into primary functions:

He specifically affirmed that central narrative areas — like writing — are are in no way fields where the company is replacing artistic involvement. In fact, Larian is actively hiring in these exact positions.
"Our studio is not shipping a game with machine-made assets, and we are certainly not considering trimming down staff to swap them out with artificial intelligence," Vincke stated definitively.
